Alpha Technologies Ltd. announced three new products for powering broadband and wireless networks. The new products include the CXPS-W Mid-Size 48Vdc Power System, a versatile new system for powering either CO or Macro Cell sites, along with two new additions to Alpha’s growing family of Line Power solutions – the LRP48-150-IP68 Sealed Dual Channel 48V Down-Converter and LPS36 Compact 4-Slot Up-Converter Shelf. These products will be displayed at the 2015 OSP EXPO taking place at Colorado Convention Center in Denver on September 2-3, 2015.
“More service providers are taking advantage of the Connect America Fund (CAF) to deliver broadband to rural and underserved areas,” said Mike Burkhalter, Vice President of Sales. “Line Power is ideal for them, enabling Loop Reduction programs that allow carriers to re-purpose their copper loops to deliver power to the new, high bandwidth DSLAMs. The two new additions to our Line Power line-up make it easy for carriers to deploy the right amount of power precisely where it’s needed. At the CO, our customers wanted Alpha’s new CXC HP controller incorporated into our all of our CO power systems. With the new 1200A dual voltage CXPS-W joining our CXPS-C 10,000A centralized power system, CXPS-HX 2500A box bay system, and CXPS-E3 400A rack-mount system, customers can standardize on the new CXC HP controller for all CO and Macro cell systems.”

The LPS36 Compact is an OSP Line Power System designed to distribute ±190Vdc power over copper networks. It has slots for up to four (4) LPS36 Quad Up-Converter Modules, providing a total of 16 Line Power circuits from an OSP cabinet or remote terminal. Applications include powering sealed DSLAM’s, Distribution Point Units (DPU’s), and Optical Network Terminals in FTTH Networks.
The CXPS-W is a versatile midsize system that can supply up to 1200 Amps of 48V power, or can be configured for dual voltage (48V and +24Vdc) operation for Macro Cells. The system offers a variety of distribution options, including bullet and GJ style breakers plus TPL, TPS, and GMT fuses at various power levels. The CXC HP controller provides single point control, advanced battery diagnostics, data logging plus local and remote monitoring, including SNMP alarming. With high efficiency rectifiers, an intelligent system controller and ample space for cabling, the “W” combines state-of-the-art features with traditional cable management.
