Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. introduced a new series of low-profile, high-current power inductors featuring powdered iron cores for high saturation current up to 5.8A. Lowering costs and saving board space in computer, consumer, and telecom applications, Vishay Dale IHHP series devices are offered in the miniature 2.0 mm by 1.6 mm 0806 and 2.5 mm by 2.0 mm 1008 case sizes, each available with low profiles of 1.0 mm and 1.2 mm.

With their high-current performance and small size, the devices released today are optimized for dc-dc converters and power supply modules in notebook PCs, mobile phones, hard disk drives, SSDs, DVCs, and DSCs. The magnetic-alloy power inductors offer low acoustic noise and provide magnetic shielding to prevent interference with nearby components.

Samples and production quantities of the new inductors are available now, with lead times of eight to 10 weeks for large orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery starts at $0.089 per piece.
