Fuji Electric Corp. of America has announced the introduction of a new silicon-carbide hybrid module for the North American market, which allows for smaller, lighter system packages due to its higher switching speed and increased efficiency over full-silicon power modules. The new module, which is the latest generation product in the company’s portfolio, began shipping to customers earlier this month and boasts temperature stability and virtually no reverse recovery loss.

“The high performance and superior efficiency of the SiC module results in a reduction of total energy consumption, which in turn decreases both system costs and operating expenses over time,” said Phil Charatz, President and CEO of Fuji Electric Corp. of America. “The use of a hybrid module is an effective way to take advantage of this new technology while waiting for full Silicon Carbide modules to reach mass adoption.”

“One of the benefits of migrating towards the use of silicon carbide in our products is the flexibility we have configuring the technology for a variety of products and applications,” added Charatz. “Fuji Electric’s Engineering and Development teams are hard at work developing new, innovative products to support our customers’ evolving needs.”
