International Rectifier Corp. (IR) today announced the expansion of its StrongIRFET™ MOSFET portfolio to include 75V devices for a wide variety of industrial applications including power tools, Light Electric Vehicle (LEV) inverters, dc motor drives, Li-Ion battery pack protection, Hot-Swap and Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) secondary-side synchronous rectification. The new family of 75V StrongIRFET™ power MOSFETs features ultra-low on-state resistance (Rds(on)) for improved performance in low frequency applications, very high-current carrying capability, soft body diode, and 3V typical threshold voltage to improve noise immunity. Each device in the family is 100% avalanche tested at industry highest avalanche current levels to ensure the most robust solution for demanding industrial applications. The devices are offered in through-hole packages.

“Featuring ultra-low Rds(on) and 100% avalanche tested to demanding industry levels to ensure robustness, IR’s family of 75V StrongIRFET™ devices offers a selection of benchmark performance MOSFETs optimized for the industrial market,” said David Schroeder, Executive Director of Marketing for IR’s Power Management Devices Business Unit.

The six devices being introduced (and selected specifications) include: IRFP7718 (ID at 25 degrees C is 195A, maximum RDS(on) at VGS of 10V is 1.8mΩ, Qg at VGS of 10V is 552 nC); IRFB7730 (ID at 25 degrees C is 174A, maximum RDS(on) at VGS of 10V is 2.6mΩ, Qg at VGS of 10V is 271 nC); IRFB7734 (ID at 25 degrees C is 130A, maximum RDS(on) at VGS of 10V is 3.5mΩ, Qg at VGS of 10V is 180 nC); IRFB7740 (ID at 25 degrees C is 62A, maximum RDS(on) at VGS of 10V is 7.3mΩ, Qg at VGS of 10V is 81 nC); IRFB7787 (ID at 25 degrees C is 76A, maximum RDS(on) at VGS of 10V is 8.4mΩ, Qg at VGS of 10V is 73 nC); and the IRFB7746 (ID at 25 degrees C is 42A, maximum RDS(on) at VGS of 10V is 10.6mΩ, Qg at VGS of 10V is 55 nC).

The IRFP7718 is packaged in a TO-247AC. The other five parts being introduced are offered in a TO-220AB package. Pricing for the IRFB7746 begins at US $0.28 each in 10,000 unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately.
